Deciduous shrub or small tree with orange leaves that emerge in summer and turn green in fall. Fading green flowers create pink puffs of "smoke". Grows with a rounded habit. Use as accent, hedge, border, or for mass planting in Auburn, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville and Sacramento.

Tolerates a wide range of soils but prefers well drained soils with medium moisture. Prune lightly in late winter or early spring if bloom is desired. If bloom not desired, cut back far to encourage growth of vigorous new shoots with larger leaves. Apply an all-purpose fertilizer in spring.
