Boysenberry varieties in start sleeves. In second year of growth, deciduous shrub typically yields very large, dark fruit in summer. Use in pots or raised beds. Great fresh or for jams and cooking! Full sun. Grows well in Auburn, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville and Sacramento.

Thrives in enriched soil with good drainage. Apply a thick layer of mulch to protect roots from cool temperatures. Trailing and semi-upright varieties should be trellised after first year of growth. Feed in spring when shrub is in bloom.
