Basil ‘Large Leaf Italian’ has extra large, glossy green leaves that are very fragrant and have a strong flavor. Petite, white flowers bloom as the plant matures. Traditional basil used for making pesto. Grows well in Auburn, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville and Sacramento.

Plant in enriched garden soil 1-2 weeks after last frost. Leave 8″-10″ of space between each plant. Fertilize when transplanting and again after first harvest. Water early morning or late evening. Harvest as needed by pinching leaves off at the stem. For best flavor, pick early in the morning when leaves have their highest oil content.
