Hosta is a deciduous perennial with an upright, vase-like habit, and a wide variety of foliage, often variegated. Spikes of white to lavender flowers in summer attract hummingbirds. Excellent in shady beds or containers.

Thrives in evenly moist, slightly acidic, enriched soil. Avoid planting in areas that receive harsh sun exposure. Remove old, spent leaves before new foliage appears in spring. Divide every 2-3 years, in spring.
